5 Things To Do – In November!

1. Go for frosty walks

With the trees shedding their leaves and the heathland turning rich colours, November is a perfect time to explore. The open landscapes and woods feel fresh and peaceful.

  • Try an woodland trail with the roaming ponies for company – Bolderwood & Wilverly Plain is great for this!

  • Don’t forget warm clothing — it can be chilly, especially early morning or late in the day.

  • Combine a walk with a stop at a cosy café or pub afterwards for a reward – we recommend Burley!

2. Experience forest traditions & nature quirks

This month you’ll notice some of the lesser‑seen sides of the New Forest.

  • The annual “pannage” (when pigs are let loose to forage fallen acorns) is nearing its end, giving a unique local flavour.

  • Wildlife watching has its perks: quieter trails mean you may spot birds, deer, or other forest animals.

  • If you’re up for early mornings or evening walks, the light around dawn and dusk is beautiful for photographs.

3. Events & festive‑lead activities

November marks the shift towards the festive season, and there are some special events happening:

  • The “Eats ‘n’ Treats” local produce event (Brockenhurst) is a great chance to sample food & drink from the region and start some early Christmas shopping.

  • Towns like Ringwood host bonfire/firework nights in early November — an atmospheric evening out. Bournemouth also offers weekly displays!

  • As the month draws on, look out for local Christmas light switch‑ons and markets — they add a lovely festive touch to the forest villages.

4. Coastal & village escapes

If you’d like a change from woods and trails:

  • Head out to the coast for fresh air and scenic views — the crisp November sea breeze is invigorating – Close to us is Barton on Sea, Highcliffe or Milford on Sea!

  • Visit one of the charming villages in the region, with independent shops and cosy eateries where you can relax with a hot drink.

  • Market days are worth checking out: you’ll find local produce, handmade gifts and more.
